Welcome to the Studio!
Choosing the right portrait studio for you and your family is a key to help you feel more relaxed and enjoy the whole experience. Here are four things you can expect at my studio:
- Communication and comfort. A successful photo shoot isn’t a one-way street. It’s an experience that starts with a consultation where I listen to you and get to know your style. Then we can decide on indoor portraits or a session on location at the destination of your choice and lastly, whether you need portraits, printable files or both. If you come to my Centerville studio, which is handicap accessible and can accommodate groups of up to 40 people, you’ll find dressing rooms, a changing table for babies, and even the little details, from hair pins to hair dryers. When you’re comfortable, your confidence will shine through in your portraits.
- Looking your best isn’t luck or chance. Superb portraits require more than a good camera—they demand art, skill and attention to detail. Decades of experience have taught me the fine points of proper lighting, backgrounds, posing and more. I can guide you on the best colors and styles of clothing to wear. I also offer options for poses to help you look your best, whether you want an individual or group portrait.
- Low stress is best. Taking family portraits doesn’t have to be a nerve-wracking experience. As a mother and grandmother, I know that patience makes all the difference. I love working with babies and children, including those with special-needs, and know how to create a calming environment that puts everyone at ease.
- I have you covered. While it’s easy and fun to take digital photos, how safe are these images in the long run if they only reside on a memory card or storage cloud? I can’t tell you how many times people have told me their computer crashed and wiped out all their files, or their smartphone was lost or damaged beyond repair—destroying all their precious photos of their child’s first year and other images that can never be recreated. I also think of my client whose home was destroyed by a fire. I was one of the first people she called to begin rebuilding her life. “You can replace all the pictures you took of my family, right?” she asked. Yes, I assured her. I use a triple storage/backup system to protect the images I shoot for all my clients.
